FRA Track 1b Application (Orlando to Miami segment): August 24, 2009. This application requested $30 million to conduct a project development and environment study of the Orlando to Miami high speed rail corridor. To view the Track 1b application click here.
FRA Track 2 Application (Tampa to Orlando segment): October 2, 2009. The application requested $2.6 billion to design-build-maintain and operate the high speed rail system within the Tampa to Orlando segment. To view the Track 2 application click here.
FRA Planning Grant Application (Orlando to Miami segment): May 19, 2010.
The Florida Department of Transportation applied for $8 million in federal high speed rail funds from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to accelerate the planning work for the federally designated 220-mile Orlando-Miami high speed rail corridor. This is in addition to $2 million in state funds that FDOT has allocated to this segment. Click here to view the application.
The FDOT proposes eventual statewide, high speed rail service, starting in the Tampa-Orlando-Miami corridor. Under the FRA program, the FDOT plans to construct the first segment by late 2014 and the second segment by late 2017.
